The Mind Behind It All

Mr Wong Kuen Kong or, KK Wong, Chief Executive Officer of UMLand Seri Austin (developed by Dynasty View Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned UMLand subsidiary), is no new name in the property development industry. His remarkable track records, as demonstrated by the dazzling list of accolades awarded for Seri Austin, speak for themselves.

Mr Wong began his career in an Australian auditing firm before moving into the property sector when he joined Chee Tat Plantations Sdn Bhd which now known as Seri Alam Properties Sdn Bhd. When UMLand bought the 500-acre freehold land in Seri Austin in 2004, Mr Wong was assigned the task to develop the new township – an undertaking of challenge at the time, as he recalled.

From Challenge to Change

With its location of being at the end of the road from which no exit is possible and with no immediate highway access, it would be a tall order to advance the development and many were not overly optimistic about its success. Nonetheless, Mr Wong took the challenges in stride and turned them into triumphs by creating a township synonymous to the epitome of healthy living.

Launched in 2005, the 500-acre Seri Austin township comprises terrace units, semi-detached villas, cluster homes, bungalows and serviced apartments surrounded by a serene setting of magnificent landscapes with tranquil lakes and lush green hills. As a believer in Feng Shui, Mr Wong ensured that the character of the landscape is intact. Feng Shui elements have also been incorporated into the landscape and designs to tap into the auspicious Qi for prosperity and well-being.

“Its soothing ambiance with greenery and water bodies is a selling point, which can be likened to a Utopian Land of Peach Blossoms where even buyers on the way to a planned purchase could be enticed to make a detour,” Mr Wong proudly shared a customer’s wonderful experience with the purchase of Seri Austin property.

A Journey of Many Firsts

Providing an assortment of hing-end yet affordable living with environmental sustainability in mind, Seri Austin is distinguishable from other developments by its cutting edge features and healthy living conducive environment. It has set the bar high with an extensive list of prestigious accolades from various authorities, including the many firsts the township has been credited.

First, the three main firsts. Seri Austin is the first township to collaborate with the Johor Bahru Municipal Council to incorporate Effective Microorganism (EM) into the township’s eco-system in achieving the goal of environmental preservation while maintaining a healthy living environment. It is the first township in Johor to offer free High Speed Broadband Uni-Fi services to all phases of units for a period of two years and the first to have designated bicycle lanes around the township to encourage bike use and for biking safety.

In addition, Seri Austin has gained recognition as the First Smart Healthy City & Community Township in Iskandar Malaysia and with two community parks gazetted as the first smoke-free town parks by the Ministry of Health.

Property Man of the Year

Under the exemplary leadership and vision of Mr Wong, along with a group of dedicated professionals, Dynasty View has made milestones in delivering a well-established healthy-living township. Over a span of three years between 2013 and 2016, it has accumulated an impressive list of 51 accolades encompassing various categories of awards. Twenty-five years since his decision to venture into the property market, Mr Wong has gained much expertise and repute in the property development industry. Mr Wong is also a speaker at property conferences and seminars. The year 2014 saw Mr Wong attained the heights of his career when he was honoured Property Man of the Year at The Malaysian Reserve Property Press Awards (MRPPA), an accolade to recognise exemplary movers and shakers in the Malaysian property industry.

Passion and Commitment

Talking to a friendly and down to earth Mr Wong, one quickly warms to his relaxed, easy going style and a wry sense of humour. Behind the pleasant personality he exudes are ingrained values that reflect passion and commitment. With passion comes responsibly, commitment and eagerness which drives him to succeed with excellence.

A Hands On Approach

In terms of management style, Mr Wong utilises a hands-on approach making sure that he is actively involved in the project management right from planning, designing through to implementation, monitoring every stage of progress until at least 90% completion. Staying closely in touch with the team allows him to smooth out any problem or issue arising in the process to ensure efficient outcomes and performances.

A Sense of Teamwork

At the workplace, Mr Wong is committed to building a conducive teamwork environment whereby effective communication, mutual respect and support are deemed essential. When there is teamwork and collaboration, great things can be achieved. As human problems and workplace politics are inevitable elements in organisational management, he makes sure that these are duly addressed by confronting the parties involved with facts and evidence so that the truth can be ascertained. Being impartial, showing no favouritism and act with integrity is his leadership style. Mr Wong would like to thank his team for the cooperation given and his boss Dato Ng (The Executive Deputy Chairman of UMLand) , for his guidance and support in making this township a success.

All Things in Moderation

Mr Wong is an approachable leader opens to ideas and suggestions but seeks balance in everything he does. Hence, his viewpoint in life, including that of healthy living, is balance – everything must be done in moderation and not in excess. However, because of his demanding workloads and schedules, he is currently working seven days at week – which means a balance is yet to be struck!

Giving Back to Society

Mr Wong also feels passionate about giving back to the community by making regular contributions to needy senior citizens and disadvantaged minority groups while also involving in training programmes to help young entrepreneurs kick start their career.

What is Success
