“If  I were awarding an Oscar for finest performance by a winery, von Siebenthal would be my winner.” – J.Miller, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

One of JJ’s recent lineup features Chilean wines from the Swiss owned Vina von Siebenthal in the Aconcagua valley and the relatively recent Vina Gandolini in Maipo Andes showcasing an remarkable selection of limited production, organically farmed, handcrafted high quality wines.

Jessica highlighted Siebenthal’s flagship Tatay de Cristobal which is made up primarily of  Carmenere, a variety originated in Bordeaux that was once mistaken for Merlot, whose immense quality is reflected in the 2007 vintage when it was awarded a 97-point rating by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, the highest score ever attained by a Chilean wine.

Next on her choice wine list came the Carabantes Chilean Syrah, a concentrated, robust yet elegant beauty which will be an exciting counterpoint to the old world Syrah lovers, not forgetting the voluptuous Barossa style Shiraz fans as well. Others showcasing on the lineup were the Toknar, a unique pure blend of 100% Petit Verdot and other delicious red blends including the Montelìg, Parcella #7 and the Carmenere, just to name a few.

It is also worth mentioning Chilean winemaker Stefano Gandolini’s winery whose production is solely focused on Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile’s distinctive varietal, the king of all reds. The Gandolini Las 3 Marias with Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for 90% of the blend that displays flavours of blackberry and dark chocolate, rich and delicate tannin,  might just charm your palate with its domineering yet elegant mystics.
